There is also a way to later add the driver to Vista without having installed it during Windows install. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.
Dell Dxp061 Driver To VistaI recently downgraded from Vista Home Basic that was already pre-installed when the computer was built last year. I definitely like the performance boost and back to the old-school style layout of XP, however I have one problem. I installed all the drivers, and everything is working--but I cannot install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps. Before I downgraded, I searched other forums that mentioned in order to do the downgrade for the 9200 series, I would need to go into the BIOS settings and turn off the RAID ON option. I turned it to the RAID AUTODETECT ATA in the SATA OPERATION fields. Others had mentioned that after I choose this option, I could install XP with the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps then turn it back to RAID ON. However, the problem is I cannot install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager apps. Ive tried the ones from Intel AND the ones from the Dell site. Dell Dxp061 Driver From DellIve tried the newest one from Intel (version 8.5) as well as an older version (8.2.) I then tried the two versions of the Application and Driver from Dell (both are version 7.5). ALL of them say minimum requirements are not met. How do I work around this I thought I needed to turn on RAID ON in the BIOS for the requirements to be met. Right before Windows load, theres a quick BSOD screen, and then the computer restarts. Hmm.what should I do Any suggestions Thanks. You arent using RAID functionality, so there shouldnt be a need for it. You should load the Chipset drivers right away, and then on most of my Intel boards, Ive loaded the Management Engine Interface as well, and thats it. However, even during the screen right before the Windows VistaXP logo loads, it showed that the drives were in Non-RAID Disk configuration. But, I thought it was just needed to get like the best possible performance boost for these two drives. I think I had read somewhere (or maybe I was mislead) that putting the settings as RAID ON in BIOS gave an edge to the drives even if they were not fully configured for RAID. I dunno. Well, anyways what setup would you recommend in my case Can I still set them back to RAID or is that impossible now. Some people in the know even go as far as saying AHCI actually degrades peformance a bit on the desktop. I ran emulated mode for several months on my XP install after I changed motherboards until I had the time to take to reinstall the OS. When I reinstalled XP, I did set it up to run in AHCI mode, but I see no real tangible increase in performance out of my SATA II Hitachi Desktar. The driver will not install while in Windows unless it is already functional, bizarre behaviour from Intel. So when you enable the AHCIRAID controller option in the CMOS, there is no longer a driver and if you are booting from that controller, Windows will halt. There are hacks to install the driver but I had no success with them (X38 ICH9R).
